A special surprise arrived from our east coast friends @ Narragansett Brewing in Rochester New York. They sent us a 6 pack of their Light and Lager in 16 oz pounder Tall Cans. Not every day you get beer in the mail!

Narragnasett Lager: According to the website, the Lager is “brewed just right for drinking—crisp and refreshing.” Good thing too, cause that’s what we did with it. Lucky. It didn’t say anything about that on the can. It also didn’t say on the can that it was 5% Alcohol. I guess that’s the way they do it in New England. Around these parts we need to see that info ON THE CAN!

It is unlikely for a person to need to join programs to help alcoholics in the future if he or she is a responsible drinker.

It gets good marks for drinkability and with only 5% alchy, i’d say the sharliedick potential is pretty low. You might drown before you get enough to pass out.

Narragansett Light: The light beer is a refreshing alternative to Bud Light, Coors Light, Pabst Blue Ribon Light, or any other light malt beverage. The flavors are subtle. They say it has 10 IBUs and 3.8%alcohol by volume. That’s not a lot of alcohol. In fact, when we were drinking this and couldn’t find anything about it on the label i started to think they sent us near beer. Is this how they drink beer in New England? Is there some law about beer not having testicles?

Anyway, We did enjoy the Narragansett beer. It didn’t have as much alcohol as your Hurricane, but it’s worth drinking if you have a bottle of cheep tequila to take up the alcohol slack.

Thanks to Narragansett for sending the beer. We did notice that you brew a Bock and a Porter at your Prividence RI brewery. We’d love to sample those if you can squeeze them into your cans.

This “American Malt Liquor” was made by Anheuser-Busch in their Galveston Texas bottling facility after Hurricane Rita, hence the name “hurricane.” It is a high gravity lager with more than the normal amount of alcohol because the Galveston bottling plant was without electricity for a few days. The Brewmaster at that facility came to work after the deadly natural disaster and found that the last batch of King Cobra had sat for a week festering. So he filtered it and whipped up a new can design on Windows Paint and gave the world HG High Gravity Lager…

Still, some people liked it.

That’s it folks, turn out the lights – the party’s over. A new champion has been crowned and it is brewed by none other than Anheuser-Busch in the great US of A. At $0.99 and 8.1% abv it is 24 oz of sheer terror for the competition.

Made by: Anheuser-Busch

Hurricane Malt Liquor is brewed with a combination of malt and corn. Hurricane Ice is “ice-brewed” with a combination of malts and cereal grains to produce its distinct smoothness and body. Hurricane High Gravity is brewed with quality hops and extra barley malt to produce its full-bodied flavor.

Delicious: NOT Though A-B has this to say about the “flavor” of Hurricane:

Hurricane Malt Liquor is full-bodied and robust and offers a smooth, slightly fruity and slightly sweet taste. Hurricane Ice offers extra smoothness and body, and Hurricane High Gravity offers a very full-bodied flavor with a smooth, sweet finish.

Can: 24 oz

Drinkibility: d-

SDP (sharpie dick potential): Extreme,

Don’t drink this beer around a black permanent marker of any kind.

Cost: $1.24

All in all worth the investment provided you have a suitable chaser like raccoon piss to cut the after taste. Though according to “badbeer” in BeerAdvocate Forums, you can get for $1.99 per 4 pack in Wisconsin…

Alcohol content: 8.1 %

Though that can vary. Some states have laws which require certain stores to sell lower alcohol beers. According to “TheWolfOfMibu” In BA Forum, “the 8.1% ABV version is called Slurricane…”

Things got a bit out of hand in this episode and basically every other time Sturbo opened his mouth I had to cut it. So that’s the deal with the discontinuity.

Colt 45 however is a very continuous beer. And one with a rich history of working every time. I’m not sure what a beer, or eve a malt liquor, is supposed do to me considered “working” but I imagine it has something to do with the lovely lady who is always seen near Billy Dee Williams in the old commercials.

Either way, if you define “works” as taste good and makes you want another, I’m afraid that Colt 45 isn’t really high on the list. We’d like to get a hold of some of that nice Canadian Colt 45, but that’ll depend on someone from the great white north sending us some. Until then…

Thanks to our special guest host, Justin for hanging. Sorry Sturbo was so annoying…

Flavor: 45
Delicious: Not
